8 Helpful Homework Tips On How To Manage Your Time

Homework is stressful: that’s just a fact. However, there are ways to make it much less stressful. Making sure you manage your time properly can ease the burden of having to go to school all day and continue studying well into the evening. If done properly, it can even allow you to have some time to yourself just to relax! Below are 8 helpful tips on how to properly manage your homework time.

  1. Make a list
  2. Ensure that you know exactly what needs to be done. If you have five tasks ahead of you, for instance, write them down in list form before you move on to tip number two.

  3. Make a plan
  4. Creating some sort of schedule is the best thing to do when tackling a mountain of homework once you’ve listed down exactly what you have to do. Just make sure you are realistic about how long everything is going to take you!

  5. Don’t waste time
  6. It can be all too easy to study with the laptop open or phone on, texting and messaging other people or else browsing the internet. This, however, means that you are not working as efficiently as possible. Switch electronics off!

  7. Allow yourself breaks
  8. Instead of wasting time (see tip 3), set breaks between pieces of work so that your brain gets a break and can work more efficiently. Make a cup of tea or read a quick article in a magazine.

  9. Don’t let people distract you
  10. Your family and friends should understand that studying is important, so don’t let anyone interrupt you to ask you to take the bins out, for example. Homework is important, and you need to be doing it. Chores can wait!

  11. Don’t spend too much time on one thing
  12. Sometimes, one piece of homework can seem harder than the others. Remember to stick to your schedule. If you don’t manage to finish something, leave it for another day and don’t stress about it!

  13. Prioritize
  14. Some work is more important than the rest. Make sure you know what the most important piece of homework is a prioritise it. Whether that means you do it first or spend longer completing it, only you can decide.

  15. Relax!
  16. The worst thing for sticking to a schedule is stress: it can throw you right off! So just relax, know that you’ll get through everything and that it will all be fine!
